Capture/Processing Overview
The capture and processing of a video is the most essential part of the video transfer process. By using the correct settings and video filters, you can restore video from even a poor quality source to nearly perfect condition. An important benefit of processing your video is that the file size of your final encoded video will be lower and the will be quality higher.
In the following subsections, I will walk you through the process of adjusting your capture device, capturing the video, processing the video, and (optionally) enhancing the audio.
You need to have VirtualDub, the VirtualDub plug-ins, and possibly AVI_IO installed. You can get these from my Software page.
I am assuming that your capture device is installed and working properly. If you are having problems installing your capture device, contact the manufacturer or visit a support group before attempting to carry out this guide. If your capture device does not seem to be working properly, you can post a question in the Message Boards.
