Sorry everybody, I've been really busy lately
with quizzes/exams/projects/scheduling/etc., and as a result I haven't had a
chance to make my promised update. However, I'm making it a point to
post the new encoding trick after school later today. Therefore, barring
any unforeseen crises, I fully expect to update the page tonight or early
Friday morning.

Good news, everybody, I just had an epiphany!
My latest discovery will allow you to create RealMedia files that have a
reduced file size but retain comparable quality. Yipee!
Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a day or two before I can get around to
updating the guide with the relevant information. I first have to finish
a project that I was supposed to be doing instead of fooling around with video
stuff. :-) So check back soon, and I'll try to get the new
tip posted ASAP.

Just so you all know, yes, I am aware that
there is a new beta version 8.5 of RealProducer. The new version has
better stereo audio and slightly enhanced video quality. However, since
it is a beta version and some of the bitrates are set rather strangely, I'm
not going to recommend it until the final version comes out.
In other news, I've made some more little
updates to various sections of the guide.
Sunday, November 12, 2000
The FAQ has been
updated, and I've done my usual round of other small additions.
Friday, November 10, 2000
As promised, I've updated both the Video
Tuning and NTSC Vs. PAL/SECAM sections.
In addition, I've added a new page, Special Thanks.

I'll be adding some obvious things I overlooked
to Video Tuning and NTSC
Vs. PAL/SECAM sections later today.
Also, just to let everyone from
rec.video.desktop know, I did not pay Youri to make that post. Honestly!
He's just a nice guy who made that post without my knowledge.
Wednesday, November 8, 2000
Another question has been added to the FAQ
page, and I've made lots of minor updates throughout the site.
Sunday, November 5, 2000
I've created a Codec
Information page that provides a good description of the most commonly
used video formats.
Friday, November 3, 2000
In addition to numerous minor updates, I've
added instructions on normalizing audio to my Audio
Editing page.
